News and Events

Welcome to our new Lucky Horse rescues! These four were rescued from auction last weekend.

Horses were being sold quickly and swiftly. We at LHER were thrilled to be able to save these 4 from potentially harmful or fatal fates.

Now we need your help!

For evaluation and good health practices, it is our policy to keep new horses and ponies for a minimum of 30 days. During this time, a number of immediate needs must be met: food, shelter, farrier, and medical care. Please consider a DONATION through our homepage

No donation is too small! Every penny helps!

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped out with the tack swap on Saturday! From cleaning tack, to stuffing cars with blankets, to selling, to unpacking the trailer and filling the storage unit.... you all pitched in and made it a successful day! The girls did a great job selling items and sharing their knowledge of horses and tack with customers and we made some wonderful networking connections! This truly was a team effort and your hard work paid off to make a great fundraiser! We appreciate the way everyone stepped up to do their part to make the event a success.

Thank You to Sarah V. - a very generous LHER supporter!

Please meet Sarah V. of Newton MA. Sarah kindly took all of her Hanukkah money last year and bought a bunch of stuff on LHER's wishlish (saddle pads, bits, girths, clippers, detangler etc)!  Such a sweet girl with a big heart. Thank you for embracing the spirit of the holidays and for giving the horses presents they so much deserve!

Congrats to all of our recent adoptions!

Kill Pen Pulls

Lucky Horse travelled to a notorious kill buyer auction to pick up our latest round of rescue horses.  It was an incredibly sad day.  A temporary ban was placed on exports to Mexico and Canada, so there were horses being sold for as little as $10.  Sadly, most of these went to kill buyers who will stick them on a feed lot until the ban is lifted, then ship them off to slaughter.  Lucky Horse went with funding in hand for 4 horses, but came back with 9!  They were stuffed into every cranny of the trailer, and managed to escape what could have been an awful fate.

Here are just a few pics of our new very Lucky Horses:
